On Open Content

Raven Crowking brought something up on his blog that was only a matter of time before I had to address. What is or isn't open content? I personally prefer Creative Commons, it gives you a bit more granularity on what is free to share or copy.  But because DCC RPG is licensed under the Open Game License (OGL) I think I have to abide by the same rules. Still, the OGL is share share-alike, which is fine with me. So, if you want to use any material from one of my articles in your product (mine only, i.e. by Reverend Dak,) you totally can. But you should add the following to your Section 15 of the OGL (In addition to the DCC RPG copyright by Goodman Games):

"Article name", Copyright 2012, Reverend Dak.

I'd also appreciate an "additional writing by" credit, if you don't mind. Some of my articles are derivative themselves, and I try to make a point of it. So additional credit and copyright notice may be needed.

For anything else, you have to contact the author or artist yourself. I give each creator the option of how they want to be credited. Some choose not to publish their email or a URL, so contact me directly and I'll send you the right direction.

When in doubt, email me!

Stat this Monster!

This monster graces the cover of the latest issue. What is it? It comes is several sizes, that much I know. Over at the Goodman Games Fan Forums, I'm running a contest to stat this thing out. It will be judged by the artist, Mitchell Hudson, and me.

Post your submission here: Link!

The winner will be published in an upcoming issue, or as a web supplement. The winner will also get a free copy of #5, or any other issue or subscription extension.

Orc Player Class (Update)

The new issue should be arriving in your mailbox!

There were some small omissions for the Orc Class:

Under Weapon Training, add the following to the end:

Orcs may wear any armor that fits.

Under Rage, at the end of the second paragraph, add the following:

Any damage taken is reduced by the DR amount, e.g  an Orc with a Rage value of 9 reduces all damage from attacks by 2 while they are raging. The damage can never go below 0.

As an added bonus, you can find a custom character sheet for the Orc here:

The first run has SOLD OUT! (Which is awesome) But don't fret, more are on the way! (Which will include the omission and some tiny fixes.)

Old Contest for Next Zine

A Bard
Over at the DCC RPG fan/community forums I'm running a contest, more like a challenge, for new classes for the next issue. I'm calling it the Classic Class Compendium. Player Classes for DCC RPG that the community decided was missing, needed or desired. The community spoken and it came down to the Bard, Gnome, Paladin and Ranger! So check them out here:

I'll be posting the polls up soon.

A box of zines, type V.

The actual zines are green. My phone just takes sucky pics.

In the Prison of the Squid Sorcerer (Indiegogo)

There is a week or so left on this project, and I hope it gets funded. As an incentive, they've bumped up the base book to 64 pages! This makes it a bargain.

Daniel Bishop is involved, and he's a solid, talented and creative writer! I can't wait to see what twisted stuff he brings to this book.

As a Judge, you can never have enough drop-in encounters for your campaign! This book is full of them!

I scrounged up $20 (and I'm broke) because I want this book! You should too!

p.s. I pick up Crawl! no.5  from the printers today. A few hours of folding, stapling and envelope stuffing is next. Subscriptions should go out today or tomorrow and it should go on sale soon after. So hold on tight!
